MLS Scores Big with 2024 Topps Chrome Debut Patch Cards

Major League Soccer has stepped up its game in the world of sports trading cards with the introduction of the 2024 Topps Chrome Debut Patch Cards. This move mirrors the frenzy that followed Major League Baseball’s 2023 Topps Chrome Update release, as collectors eagerly anticipate pulling rare and valuable cards from the new MLS set that hit shelves on December 4.

The excitement reached a fever pitch when a hobby box yielded a redemption card for none other than Hugo Lloris at E and J Boutique in Brooklyn, NY. The lucky recipient, Andy Wert, uncovered the prized Hugo Lloris Debut Patch Card on December 7. With an illustrious career that includes leading France to a World Cup victory in 2018 and a record-breaking 145 appearances for the French national team, Lloris’s MLS debut with Los Angeles FC adds another layer of prestige to the sought-after card.

The $120 hobby box offers incredible value, with the added allure of two chrome autographs per box. However, it’s the redemption card for Hugo Lloris’s Debut Patch that steals the spotlight as one of the most coveted pulls in the entire set.

The 2024 MLS Topps Chrome collection marks a milestone for the league, introducing Debut Patch Cards featuring authentic jersey patches from players’ first MLS appearances. The set includes 35 Debut Patch Cards, showcasing global icons like Luis Suárez (playing for Inter Miami), Emil Forsberg (New York Red Bulls’ Swedish sensation), and Federico Redondo (an up-and-coming talent at Inter Miami). Among these stars, Hugo Lloris’s Debut Patch Card shines brightly, bridging his legendary international career with his recent move to Major League Soccer.

While the secondary market has seen MLB’s 2023 Topps Chrome Update hobby boxes soar to $400, the 2024 MLS Topps Chrome product remains an affordable treasure at $120 per box. With the chance to discover coveted cards of Suárez, Forsberg, and others, fans and collectors are on a mission to secure their own piece of soccer history.

The introduction of Debut Patch Cards in the MLS trading card scene signals the league’s expansion in the collectibles market. By highlighting international stars and commemorating their MLS debuts, Major League Soccer has tapped into a growing community of collectors hungry for distinctive memorabilia.

The wave of excitement surrounding the 2024 MLS Topps Chrome release shows no signs of abating. With Hugo Lloris’s Debut Patch Card pull turning heads, enthusiasts eagerly await the unveiling of the remaining iconic cards, eagerly anticipating their own chance at an unforgettable discovery.
