Mile High Card Company Auction Showcases Rare 1968 Topps Set and Vintage Cards

Mile High Card Company is back with a bang, presenting collectors with a golden opportunity to acquire some of the most sought-after sports cards and memorabilia in their first major auction of 2024. With over 2,000 lots up for grabs, this event is a treasure trove for enthusiasts looking to add rare pieces to their collections.

One of the standout attractions of this auction is the top-ranked PSA graded 1968 Topps Registry set, being auctioned card-by-card. This prestigious set includes PSA 10 copies of legendary players like Mickey Mantle, Johnny Bench (rookie), Hank Aaron, Roberto Clemente, Rod Carew, Pete Rose, and a PSA 9 Nolan Ryan rookie card. For collectors aiming to elevate their PSA Set Registry collections, the high-grade singles from this set are a must-have.

Early bidding frenzy has already pushed the prices up on some high-value items, notably a 1997 Metal Universe Precious Metal Gems #23 Michael Jordan card, one of the 90 red versions, which has exceeded the $100,000 mark, indicating strong interest and competition among collectors.

Basketball enthusiasts can also rejoice as the auction features a PSA 8.5 Wilt Chamberlain 1961-62 Fleer rookie card, while hockey fans will have the chance to vie for a 1966 Topps USA Test Bobby Orr rookie card graded PSA 8.5, a prized possession in the hockey card collecting community.

In addition to these modern gems, the auction presents a range of pre-war classics, including early Ty Cobb cards and other vintage treasures like a 1909-11 T206 Sweet Caporal 150/649 Christy Mathewson White Cap SGC 8 and various 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig cards. The post-war highlights are equally enticing, with key lots featuring a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle #311 SGC 4, 1948 and 1949 Bowman Jackie Robinson cards, and high-grade cards of Johnny Bench, Pete Rose, and Mickey Mantle from the 1950s to the 1970s.

Beyond baseball, basketball, and hockey, the auction caters to a diverse range of collecting interests with items from football, hockey, and more. Collectors can bid on a 1957 Topps Bill Russell PSA 6.5, a Jim Brown 1964 Philadelphia #30 PSA 10, a Wayne Gretzky 1979 O-Pee-Chee rookie PSA 8.5, a 2015-16 Exquisite Collection Connor McDavid Rookie Relics card, a 1910s American League “All-Star” Team photo, and even unopened vintage card boxes.

If you’re eager to get your hands on these coveted pieces, the auction is now live, with bidding scheduled to close on April 13. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or a newcomer to the hobby, this event promises something for everyone, from high-end sports cards to vintage memorabilia and unopened product cases. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to own a piece of sports history.
