Memory Lane’s Premier Auction Showcases Rare Vintage Card Collection

Memory Lane’s highly anticipated Premier Auction is underway, captivating sports memorabilia enthusiasts with its exclusive offering of 120 vintage sports cards. Running until February 4th, this auction showcases a meticulously curated selection of rare and highly graded cards that are sure to appeal to collectors and investors alike.

One of the most coveted cards in the auction is the 1909 T204 Ramly Walter Johnson rookie card, graded PSA 8 in near mint/mint condition. With only two copies known to exist at this grade, it comes as no surprise that bidding quickly reached six figures. Equally impressive is the T206 Ty Cobb Portrait (Green) card, which boasts a PSA 7 grade and is considered one of the rarest variants of the legendary player’s card. Another standout is a PSA 6 Cobb ‘Bat Off Shoulder’ Old Mill back, adding to the allure of these historic pieces.

The pre-war era is well represented in this auction, with notable cards like the PSA 7 graded T206 Cy Young and the highest graded PSA 9 T206 Nap Lajoie (Throwing) card catching the attention of collectors. However, it is the 1952 Bowman Mickey Mantle card, graded PSA 9, that truly steals the show. With only 13 cards at this grade level and just two known to be higher graded, this card is a true rarity.

The legacy of Mickey Mantle continues throughout the auction, as six additional cards from the 1950s featuring the baseball legend are up for bidding. Graded either 8 or 9, these cards include prized versions from the 1953 Topps and Bowman series, further cementing Mantle’s status as an iconic figure in sports history.

Roberto Clemente’s cards from 1956 to 1973 dominate the auction, with numerous Mint 9 graded copies available for collectors. These cards outnumber those of any other player in the auction, signaling the enduring popularity and significance of Clemente’s legacy. Additionally, Willie Mays is well-represented with exceptional pieces like a rare 1962 Topps card graded PSA 9 and a 1970 Topps card, one of only two graded PSA 10.

For football enthusiasts, the auction offers high-grade rookie cards of Frank Gifford, Johnny Unitas, and Joe Namath. Basketball collectors will also find plenty of treasures, including rookie cards of Bill Russell (PSA 7), Wilt Chamberlain (PSA 8), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (PSA 8), Larry Bird/Magic Johnson (PSA 9), and Michael Jordan (PSA 8).

Memory Lane’s Premier Auction presents a unique opportunity for collectors to acquire a piece of sports history. With its carefully selected and highly graded cards, this event is not to be missed. Visit Memory Lane’s website for more information on how to participate in the auction before it concludes on February 4th.
